IEMA, Central U.S. Earthquake Consortium project will help southern Illinois residents reduce damage, injuries from earthquakes
SPRINGFIELD – An interactive kiosk is now available to help residents of southern Illinois learn how to reduce damage to their homes and prevent injuries during an earthquake. The earthquake education kiosk includes information about earthquake hazards in Illinois, safety tips and more than 80 how-to videos that demonstrate methods for securing bookshelves, wall-hangings, water heaters and other household items.

Advancing the Development of Minority Entrepreneurship program announces first group of participants
PEORIA – Governor Bruce Rauner today launched the inaugural cohort for the Advancing the Development of Minority Entrepreneurship (ADME) program in Peoria. The program, which is administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce, is a community investment program developed to strengthen Illinois’ start-up and small business ecosystem by tapping into the potential of minority business owners and entrepreneurs. The first year of the program will focus on minority communities in Peoria, Rockford and Chicago with the goal of expanding statewide.

Veterans’ services will still be offered in person at 80 VSO locations across the state during transition
Chicago, IL…. Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs Chicago office will be moving down the street to the George W. Dunne Cook County Office Building effective February 14th, 2017. Our office will close for business on Thursday, February 9th, 2017 and reopen for business on Tuesday February 14th, 2017.
