Governor Quinn Announces $572,000 for Construction Projects in Northern Illinois

Press Release - Thursday, July 24, 2014

ROCKFORD - Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $572,000 for construction projects at Illinois Department of Transportation facilities in Carroll, Stephenson and Winnebago Counties. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"Salt dome and maintenance facility projects like these help maintain our infrastructure and put people to work," Governor Quinn said.

Work will be done at Illinois Department of Transportation maintenance facilities in three locations as part of a project managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board. The Mt. Carroll Maintenance Yard and Eleroy Maintenance Yard salt domes will be repaired or replaced, and the Rockford Maintenance Yard will receive an oil separator and a city sewer connection. The general construction work will be done for $445,100 by Winter Construction, Inc. of Freeport, the lower of two bidders. The plumbing work will be done by Miller Engineering Co. of Rockford, the lower of two bidders at $127,228.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
