Governor Quinn Announces $3.4 Million for Construction Projects in DuPage County

BENSENVILLE - Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $3.4 million for construction projects in DuPage County. The projects are part of Governor Quinn's commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy forward.

"These projects will address critical infrastructure needs in DuPage County, improve safety and increase mobility," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which benefits the local economy."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

Addison

Swift Road from Army Trail Road to Lake Street will be improved for $1,511,958 by Arrow Road Construction Company of Mt. Prospect, the lowest of six bidders. The work includes milling, resurfacing, curb and gutter replacement, sidewalk replacement, patching, drainage and landscaping. Federal Surface Transportation Program and local funds are financing the project.

Bensenville and Wood Dale

Traffic signals will be modernized along Illinois Route 83 (Kingery Highway and Busse Road) between Third Avenue/Oak Meadows Drive and Mark Street for $1,649,084 by Home Towne Electric Inc. of Lake Villa, the lowest of three bidders. Federal Highway Safety Improvement Project funds are being used for the project.

Oak Brook

The existing metal railing on the sides of a bridge carrying 22nd Street over the East-West Connector (I-88 and I-294 ramps) will be replaced with a bridge fence railing for $266,053 by D Construction Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of seven bidders. IDOT is funding the work.

"Keeping our roads and bridges safe and sound is vitally important," State Senator Don Harmon (D-Oak Park) said. "Companies and commuters rely on a well-maintained transportation system to conduct business and lead their daily lives."
