Governor Quinn Announces $10.4 Million for Construction Projects in Cook County

CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $10.4 million for construction projects in Cook County. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy forward.

"These projects will improve traffic flow and safety in Cook County, which benefits everyone," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation except where noted.

Alsip

Cicero Avenue will be improved between 111th and 115th Streets and 119th to 123rd Street for $353,698 by Triggi Construction, Inc. of West Chicago, the lowest of nine bidders. The work includes sidewalk construction, curb and gutter repair, pavement patching, driveway replacement, detectable warnings and landscaping.

Broadview

Work will be completed on Roosevelt Road from 23rd Avenue to 17th Avenue for $1,965,894 by M.Q. Sewer & Water Contractors, Inc. of Chicago, the lowest of eight bidders. The work involves the replacement of existing sidewalk, curb and gutter, storm sewers, drainage structures, decorative street lights and landscaping.

Chicago

Energy efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems will be installed at the South, West and North Secretary of State Driver Services Facilities in Chicago. The heating and air conditioning contract was awarded to Premier Mechanical, Inc. of Addison, the lowest of six bidders, for $1,506,000. The electrical contract was awarded to Argo Electric Inc. of Villa Park, the lower of two bidders at $67,100. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.

Countryside

Davis Concrete Construction Company of Alsip will perform sidewalk construction, replacement or repair at various locations for $127,829. They were the lowest of 11 bidders for the work.

Glenview

West Lake Avenue from Pfingsten Road to North Lake Terrace will be improved for $3,228,206 by A. Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc. of Schaumburg, the lowest of four bidders. The work includes roadway widening and reconstruction, intersection channelization, traffic signal modernization, multi-use path construction and utility adjustments.

North Riverside

Work on Des Plaines Avenue from 26th Street to Cermak Road will be completed for $897,725 by J.A. Johnson Paving Company of Arlington Heights, the lowest of six bidders. The work includes resurfacing, patching, sewer adjustments, marking and traffic detection system repair.

Oak Forest, Tinley Park and Orland Park

Traffic signals will be completely rebuilt along U.S. Route 6 at Oak Park Avenue, and other work performed at U.S. 6 and 71st Court. Lyons Electric Company, Inc. of LaGrange was the lowest of four bidders at $396,700.

Oak Lawn

Traffic signal modernization and other related improvements will be done on Illinois Route 50 by Lyons Electric Company, Inc. of LaGrange for $717,900.

Skokie

Work on Main Street from Lincoln Avenue to Skokie Boulevard will be completed for $551,796 by J.A. Johnson Paving Company of Arlington Heights, the lowest of eight bidders. The work includes resurfacing, patching, the installation of traffic detectors and markings.

Tinley Park

Oak Park Avenue will be rehabilitated between South Street and 183rd Street for $664,248 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of five bidders. The work includes widening, resurfacing, curb and gutter repairs, pavement patching and multi-use path installation.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
