Governor Quinn Appoints Tim Gleason to Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board

CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn has appointed Tim Gleason as manager of Illinois municipalities for the Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, which administers, regulates, and certifies all local police officer training programs in Illinois. Gleason has served as the City Administrator for the City of Washington since 2012. Today's announcement is part of Governor Quinn's commitment to ensuring an efficient and responsive government for the people of Illinois.

"Tim Gleason is an innovative and capable public servant whose extensive experience will prove invaluable in his new position," Governor Quinn said.

Gleason's term on the board began on Sept. 20 and expires Aug. 1, 2016. The board position pays expenses only.

Gleason has served as City Administrator for the City of Washington since 2012. Previously, he was Deputy Director of Human Resources and Management Operations at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Gleason also served as Chief Executive Officer of Illinois Correctional Industries.

Gleason served in the United States Army from 1984-1987 as a military policeman before beginning a career with the Pekin Police Department in 1989, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2010.

Gleason received a Bachelor of the Arts in Management in 1995 from the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) and his Masters of Public Administration in 2007 from UIS as well.

The Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board administers, regulates, and certifies all local police officer training programs in Illinois; reimburses local costs; and reviews and approves applicants. The board is made up of 20 members.
