Governor Quinn Announces $471,000 for Construction Project at Rend Lake College

INA– Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $471,000 for a construction project at Rend Lake College in Ina. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“This project will add an art program addition to this key southern Illinois institution while creating a number of construction jobs, which will help the local economy as well,” Governor Quinn said.
A 2,200-square-foot addition will be added to the college’s existing Art Program building to accommodate the growing program. The general construction work will be performed by Shores Builders, Inc. of Centralia for $318,500, the lowest of seven bidders. The ventilation work will be done by Rend Lake Plumbing & Heating Co., Inc. of Bonnie, the lowest of five bidders at $98,905. The electrical work will be handled by Rakers Electric Contracting, Inc. of Aviston, the lowest of six bidders at $54,000. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.

The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
