Liquor Control Commission November Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD – In November the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 227 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 68 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Seventy percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Alexander and Union Counties – On November 1 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 22 conducted underage compliance checks in Alexander and Union Counties. Of the 22 licensees checked six, sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Champaign County – On November 7 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 10 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Champaign County. Of the 24 licensees checked, six sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Arrowhead Lanes, 1401 N. McKinley, Champaign
• The Red Lion, 211 E. Green, Champaign
• Bentley’s Pub, 419 E. Neil, Champaign
• Café Luna, 116 N. Chestnut, Champaign
• Farren’s Pub & Eatery, 308 N. Randolph, Champaign

Champaign County – On November 14 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 10 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Champaign County. Of the 14 licensees checked, three sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Champaign and Vermillion Counties – On November 28 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 10 conducted underage alcohol checks in Champaign & Vermilion Counties. Of the 22 licensees checked, 6 licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Effingham and Shelby Counties – On November 28 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 12 conducted underage alcohol checks in Effingham & Shelby Counties. Of the 38 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Lyons – On November 13 the ILCC and the Secretary of State Police conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Lyons. Of the 11 licensees checked, seven sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Madison County – On November 14 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District 11 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Madison County. Of the 18 licensees checked, 11 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Sangamon County – On November 8 the ILCC and the Secretary of State Police conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in the Springfield area. Of those 23 licensees checked, three sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:
