Illinois Products Farmers' Market Returns To State Fairgrounds Next Week

Press Release - Thursday, May 05, 2011

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Agriculture is preparing for the fourth season of its Illinois Products Farmers’ Market (IPFM). The IPFM is a unique, evening market held on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. In addition to fresh produce, it offers the public a chance to buy a number of other products that are either produced or processed in Illinois, including meat, bakery items, nursery products and even Illinois wine by the glass or by the bottle.

“We’re very excited about the attractions at this year’s market,” Market Manager Kristi Jones said. “You not only will be able to buy great products made and produced in the state of Illinois, but also enjoy rib-eye sandwiches from the Illinois Beef Association and wine from a featured Illinois winery every week.”

In addition to Senior and WIC coupons, IPFM vendors also will accept LINK cards issued through the federal SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) program.

The Illinois Products Farmers’ Market will open next Thursday, May 12, and run every Thursday evening through Oct. 20.  It will be held in the Commodities Pavilion across the street from the Grandstand from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. except during the Illinois State Fair (Aug. 11 and Aug. 18), when the market will re-locate to the Fit Club parking lot at 2701 Sangamon Ave.

For more information about the market, including a list of vendors and their products, musical entertainment and other activities, please visit www.illinoisproductmarket.com on the internet.
