Liquor Control Commission September Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD - In September the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 119 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 19 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Eighty-five percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Charleston - On September 9th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Charleston Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Charleston. This was part of Operation Back to School (EIU). Of the 14 licensee's checked no licensee's sold alcohol to the ILCC underage participants.

DeKalb - On September 9th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the DeKalb Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in the City of DeKalb. This was part of Operation Back to School (NIU). Of the 13 licensee's checked, two licensee's sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• The House Café of DeKalb, 263 E. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb
• Sullivan's Tavern, 722 E. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb

Edwardsville - On September 2nd, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 11 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in the SIU Edwardsville area. This was part of Operation Back to School (SIUE). There were 32 licensees checked and three licensees sold alcohol to the ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• EL Maguey Mexican Restaurant, 1534 Troy Rd., Edwardsville
• Wang Gang Asian LLC, # 4 Club Centre, Edwardsville
• Handee Mart, 415 N. Main, Edwardsville

Hoffman Estates - On September 10th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Hoffman Estates Police Department conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in Hoffman Estates. Of the 46 licensee's checked, 11 licensees sold alcohol to the ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Jake's Pizza, 1726 W. Algonquin Rd., Hoffman Estates
• Hyatt Place, 2750 Greensport, Hoffman Estates
• Grand Sports Arena, 2350 Golf Rd., Hoffman Estates
• Walgreens, 1000 N. Roselle Rd, Hoffman Estates
• Neighborhood Pantry, 1469 Glen Lake, Hoffman Estates
• BBQ Hut, 1147 N. Roselle Rd., Hoffman Estates
• Thai House, 1041 N. Roselle Rd., Hoffman Estates
• Thumka Indian Bar, 2336 W, Higgins Rd., Hoffman Estates
• Chili's, 2220 N. Barrington Rd., Hoffman Estates
• Poplar Creek OTO (Bowl), 2354 W. Higgins Rd., Hoffman Estates
• America's Bar, 2308 W. Higgins Rd., Hoffman Estates

St Clair County - On September 9th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 11 conducted underage alcohol compliance checks in St Clair County. Of the 14 licensee's checked 3 licensee's sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Skooter's, 323 E. Main, Mascoutah
• Pizza Hut # 4931, 806 W. Main, Mascoutah
• Hitching Post, 430 E. Highway 161, Belleville
