Quinn Administration Continues Diálogos with Latino Communities Across Illinois
Lake County Residents Participate in Open Dialogue on Issues Impacting Latinos Throughout Illinois

ROUND LAKE BEACH – October 1, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today announced the second event of “Diálogos” with Illinois’ Latino communities, an initiative he launched earlier this year to give Latino residents throughout Illinois the opportunity to meet and discuss important community issues with members of the Illinois Latino Family Commission and state officials.

“These ‘Diálogos’ are a powerful tool to help us better address issues important to Latino communities throughout Illinois,” said Governor Quinn. “Together we can build stronger partnerships between organizations and coalitions in the community and our state government.”

The second of three “Diálogos” took place today near Round Lake Beach. Various state agency representatives, members of the Illinois Latino Family Commission, the Latino Coalition of Lake County and other community organizations discussed issues affecting Illinois’ Latino residents.

“This event gave Commissioners an opportunity to hear firsthand a number of issues affecting Latino communities throughout Illinois and how we can work together to improve services and resources,” said Henry Martinez, chair of the Illinois Latino Family Commission.

The Illinois Latino Family Commission, created by statute and launched by Governor Quinn last year, advises the Governor and General Assembly on issues related to the improvement and expansion of existing policies, services, programs and opportunities for Illinois’ Latino population.
