Statement from Governor Quinn on the Resignation of Department of Juvenile Justice Director Friedenauer

CHICAGO – July 14, 2010. Governor Quinn today issued a statement regarding the resignation of Kurt Friedenauer as Director of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

“I have accepted the resignation of Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice Director Kurt Friedenauer, effective July 31. I thank Director Friedenauer for his years of thoughtful and dedicated service to the state of Illinois during these challenging times. I will name his replacement shortly.

I appreciate Kurt’s assistance over the next two weeks as we continue to work to improve the conditions and life outcomes of the youth in our care through the historic merger of the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of Children and Family Services.”
