Liquor Control Commission June Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD - In June the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 104 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 11 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Ninety-five percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Evanston - On June 21st, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Evanston Police Department conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Evanston. Of the 20 licensees checked, 1 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. That licensee was:

• World Market, 1725 Maple, Evanston

Marion and Clay Counties - On June 17, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 12 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Marion and Clay Counties. Of the 28 licensees checked, 1 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. That licensee was:

• East End Liquors, 1051 E. North Ave, Flora

Mason County - On June 25th, 2010 Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 9 conducted alcohol compliance checks in Mason County. Of the 9 licensee's checked 4 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• CVS/ Pharmacy #7610, 320 E. Dearborn St. Havana
• Happy "Our" Liquor, 324 W. Dearborn St. Havana
• Havana Cenex, 520 E. Laurel, Havana
• Stupid's, 118 S. Tonica, Mason City

Massac, Pulaski, Pope, and Hardin Counties - On June 10th, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 22 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Massac, Pulaski, Pope, and Hardin Counties. Of the 20 licensees checked, 3 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Shawnee Restaurant & Lounge, 111 Straight St., Eddyville
• E-Z Stop, 146 HWY 146, Golconda
• Casey General Store # 1926, 512 5th, Metropolis

Sangamon County - On June 1 and 9, 2010 ILCC Special Agents and the Illinois State Police District 9 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Sangamon County. Of the 27 compliance checks completed, 2 licensees sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

• Famous Liquor & Food, 3227 Lake Plaza Dr., Springfield
• Third Base Sports Bar, 2900 S. Lowell Ave., Springfield
