$2.4 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for Southern Illinois
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $2,434,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in Southern Illinois, including $800,000 to the City of Centreville to continue a sewer project to extend service to areas of the community that currently use septic systems.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $260,000 to the Village of Thompsonville to construct a water storage tank. The village is contributing $114,100.
This project was initiated by House Republican Leader Lee A. Daniels, Elmhurst. - $175,000 to the Effingham Fire Department to purchase 40 self-contained breathing apparatus air packs.
This project was initiated by State Sen. William L. O'Daniel, D-Mt.Vernon. - $100,000 to the Saline County Industrial Development Company to acquire land for the development of an industrial park.
The project was initiated by State Rep. Jim Fowler, D-Harrisburg. - $100,000 to the City of Chester to extend a sewer line along Illinois Route 3. The city is contributing $162,750.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Dan Reitz, D-Steeleville. - $50,000 to the Village of Percy to construct an addition to the existing village hall.

This project was initiated by State Sen. Larry D. Woolard, D-Carterville. - $50,000 to the Shawnee Development Council to construct a new multi-purpose building. The department is contributing $14,000.
This project was initiated by Fowler. - $50,000 to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office to purchase 3 new police cars. The department is contributing $24,000.
This project was initiated by Daniels. - $50,000 to the Village of Millstadt to construct sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. The village is contributing $109,450.
This project was initiated Daniels. - $30,500 to the Village of Campbell Hill to purchase and install playground equipment at the village park. The community is contributing $10,036.
This project was initiated by State Rep. Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro. - $30,000 to the Courts Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Franklin County to recruit and train volunteers and to increase office space.
