Illinois Department of Insurance Orders Roberto Garcia and RG International to Cease and Desist Unlawful Insurance Business

Press Release - Thursday, June 17, 2010

CHICAGO-The Illinois Department of Insurance on May 28, 2010, ordered Roberto Garcia and RG International to immediately Cease and Desist transacting insurance business in Illinois.

The Department has scheduled a public hearing on this matter on June 23, 2010, in its Chicago Office at 100 West Randolph Street, Suite 9-301.  Mr. Garcia and RG International are required to attend the hearing, following which the Director of the Department has the authority to impose additional sanctions, including fines.

The Department alleges that Mr. Garcia, individually and through his business entity RG International advertised, solicited, and sold insurance policies and contracts and collected premiums while not licensed as an insurance producer in Illinois.  Mr. Garcia's producer's license lapsed in October 2009 and his business entity, RG International, could not continue to operate without a licensed member.  To properly transact an insurance business in Illinois, one must first obtain a certificate of authority and a producer's license from the Department.
