Department of Human Services Announces Poster Contest to Combat Human Trafficking
Public Awareness Campaign is part of Annual Outreach Day on April 24

Springfield – The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and Illinois Rescue and Restore, a state-wide coalition of more than 150 member organizations, are seeking to combat modern-day slavery in Illinois.  This year, Illinois Rescue and Restore, in partnership with the Salvation Army, will host its 5th Annual Outreach Day to raise awareness about the problem of human trafficking in Illinois.

As part of Outreach Day activities, Illinois Rescue and Restore will engage Illinois high school students in the effort to raise awareness about human trafficking.  An Outreach Day Poster Contest for high school students will be held in which contestants are asked to design a poster that creatively portrays a message about the injustice of human trafficking.

Poster Criteria
Contestants will design a poster on poster board no larger than 22"x14" using appropriate images, drawings, pictures, and/or symbols to demonstrate the injustice of human trafficking.  Text should not be included in the design.

Contestants will be judged on ability to follow directions, creativity of design, clarity of intended message, and overall capacity to raise awareness about human trafficking.

Contestants can refer to our Get the Facts and Additional Resources web pages for more information on human trafficking.

Poster Mailing Information
Students can send their posters to:

Illinois Department of Human Services
Attn: Rachael Burke
401 S. Clinton St.
Chicago, IL 60607

Poster Deadline
All contending posters must be received at this location by April 9.

On April 16th, the panel of judges will choose twenty winning posters to be displayed during our Outreach Day press conferences at the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago and the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield on Outreach Day, April 24.

Top posters' designs may be incorporated into new Illinois Rescue and Restore anti-trafficking posters and brochures.
