Press Release - Monday, June 08, 2009

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Illinois State Fair Museum Foundation along with Illinois State Fair officials are seeking ten individuals to spotlight in a new program this year.  The Illinoisan of the Day program looks to honor individuals who make a difference in their community and show a true Illinois spirit through hard work and a dedication to helping others.

"Nominating an individual is as simple as the click of the mouse, or picking up the phone," said Illinois State Fair Museum Foundation Director Pam Gray. "By sending in nominations, you can help give these special people in your community the thanks and appreciation they truly deserve."

Winners will receive honors on their special day during the 2009 Illinois State Fair, which takes place Aug. 14 - 23.

"The Illinoisan of the Day winners will receive their own day of recognition during the Illinois State Fair complete with an award presentation at the Commodities Pavilion Stage, VIP parking, gate admission and Grandstand show tickets," said Illinois State Fair Manager Amy Bliefnick. "In addition, all winners will serve as Grand Marshal of the Daily Parade."

Nomination forms can be requested by calling the Museum Foundation at 1-866-996-1853 or downloaded by visiting the museum foundation website www.statefairmuseum.org.   All nominees must currently reside in the state of Illinois.  The deadline for nomination is July 1, 2009. Illinoisan of the Day winners will be contacted by phone and announced at the Illinois State Fair Museum Foundation's annual Corndog Kickoff on Saturday, July 11, at the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
