Taxpayer Action Board Issues Final Report to the Governor

CHICAGO – June 4, 2009. The Taxpayer Action Board (TAB) presented its final report to Governor Pat Quinn detailing measures to make state government more accountable and efficient. Chaired by Tom Johnson, President of the Taxpayers Federation of Illinois, TAB was charged with evaluating current state programs and identifying new approaches to deal with challenging fiscal and operational issues.

“I want to thank Tom and the TAB members for their dedication and hard work,” said Governor Pat Quinn. “I look forward to evaluating their recommendations to improve state government on behalf of the people of Illinois.”

TAB reviewed and provided recommendations on the following areas of state government: Pensions and Healthcare, Medicaid, Education, Human Services, Government Administration, and Public Safety and Regulatory Operations.

Governor Quinn created the board in March to identify opportunities to make government more efficient and responsive to taxpayers. TAB members are a diverse group of individuals with expertise and experience in both the private and public sectors.
