Liquor Control Commission Monthly Discipline Report

SPRINGFIELD - In May 2009, the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks in three communities and visited 55 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 20 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Seventy-four percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local and state law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to target communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.  The Commission issues monthly reports, listing, in alphabetical order, all regions targeted for compliance checks and all locations cited for violations.

Bond County, April 29, ICLL Agents and Illinois State Police District 11 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Bond and Madison Counties.  Of the 12 locations visited, one was cited for allegedly selling alcohol to an underage customer.

Carbondale, May 6 - Agents targeted 12 establishments with Illinois State Police and three were cited for allegedly selling alcohol.

Champaign, May 6 - Agents participated in the Campus Tap detail in Champaign with the Champaign Police Department and the Illinois State Police.  Campus Tap targets underage consumption or possession of alcohol. ILCC agents wrote citations against six locations allegedly violating a Champaign City Ordinance on state charges for Section 5-44. Section (B) No agent of the licensee shall knowingly, recklessly, or negligently allow any person under the age of 21 years to remain on the licensed premise while in the possession of or consuming alcoholic liquor in violation of this chapter.  The six locations cited were:

• The Clybourne, 706 S. 6th - 15 counts
• C.O. Daniels, 608 E. Daniels - 9 counts
• Fire Haus, 708 S. 6th - 2 counts
• White Horse Inn 112 E. Green - 8 counts underage drinking and 4 happy hour violations
• Bradley's, 1906 W. Bradley - 4 counts
• Kam's, 618 E. Daniels - 12 counts

Quincy, May 15 - Nine Adams County establishments were targeted by ILCC agents and two were cited for allegedly selling alcohol to minors.

Vermillion County, May 6 - Agents conducted an underage compliance test of 16 places in Vermilion County. Eight of the 16 places were cited for alleged underage violations.
