$261,550 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the West Suburbs

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $261,550 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the southwest suburbs, including $147,200 to the City of Geneva to enhance its downtown area.

The improvements will include brick paving, sidewalk ribbons, carriage walks and bench pads. The work will be done from James Street to Crescent Place on South Third Street. The city is contributing $30,700.

This project was initiated by State Rep. Timothy L. Schmitz, R-Batavia.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $64,350 to the City of Batavia Police Department to purchase and install a Livescan Fingerprint System.
    This project was initiated by Schmitz.

  • $30,000 to the Fox Valley YMCA for architectural fees associated with a new child care center facility.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Tom Cross, R-Oswego.

  • $20,000 to the Visiting Nurses Association of Fox Valley to purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies and equipment, and to make workspace modifications. The association is contributing $31,328.
    This project was initiated by Schmitz.
