Ryan: $145,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for East Central Illinois
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $145,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in East Central Illinois, including $55,000 to the City of Altamont to relocate and install a new storm sewer and to rework an existing city parking lot for the construction of a new Dollar General store. The city is contributing $20,000.
This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Duane Noland, R-Blue Mound.
Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:
- $50,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Danville to construct a new building with a multipurpose gymnasium. Private contributions total $1.5 million from the Vermilion Healthcare Foundation/Carle Foundation, corporate and individual donations.
This project was initiated by State Sen. Judith A. Myers, R-Danville. - $30,000 to the Bismarck Community Fire Protection District to purchase fire and safety equipment.
This project was initiated by Myers. - $10,000 to the Danville Chapter of National AMBUCS, Inc., to purchase water play equipment for its new playground. The Consumer's Illinois Water Company is contributing $10,216.
