CHICAGO - "I want to thank the Illinois Chamber of Commerce for recognizing the need for a robust statewide capital plan and for their support of the revenue streams Speaker Hastert and President Poshard have recommended to fund the Illinois Works capital plan. Nine years without a capital plan is too long to wait. Our roads, bridges, classrooms, and communities need investment now so that we can remain competitive in this global economy. I believe the majority of state legislators agree with me that this is a matter of urgent concern which we cannot put off. I urge them to act on that belief and pass a plan that puts Illinois to work this summer."
