Ryan Makes Appointments To Boards And Commissions

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced the appointment of Mary Frances Squires to the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC).

"Mary Frances brings a wealth of experience to the Commerce Commission," Ryan said. "Her knowledge of ICC issues as well as her many years spent resolving tough issues on the county level will serve the people of Illinois well as she accepts this new challenge."

Squires, 66, of Springfield, has been a member of the Sangamon County Board since 1984 and has served as board Chair since 1995. She has held a number of posts in state government including Director of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Illinois Commerce Commission from 1983 to 1987. Her appointment, which is subject to Senate confirmation, is effective February 18 and runs through January 17, 2005. She will receive an annual salary, set by the compensation review board, of $92,448.

Joby H. Berman, 61, of Kenilworth, a reappointment for a term ending January 19, 2004. Berman is President of T.Y. Lin Bascor, a consulting engineering firm in Chicago.

George Fleischli, 56, of Springfield, a reappointment for a term ending January 20, 2003. Fleischli is employed by the National Jockey Club.

Dorthy Miaso, 48, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending May 1, 2002. Miaso is Executive Director of Literacy Volunteers of America-Illinois, Inc.
