Ryan Makes Appointments To Boards And Commissions

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced the appointment of Mary Frances Squires to the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC).

"Mary Frances brings a wealth of experience to the Commerce Commission," Ryan said. "Her knowledge of ICC issues as well as her many years spent resolving tough issues on the county level will serve the people of Illinois well as she accepts this new challenge."

Squires, 66, of Springfield, has been a member of the Sangamon County Board since 1984 and has served as board Chair since 1995. She has held a number of posts in state government including Director of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Illinois Commerce Commission from 1983 to 1987. Her appointment, which is subject to Senate confirmation, is effective February 18 and runs through January 17, 2005. She will receive an annual salary, set by the compensation review board, of $92,448.

Joby H. Berman, 61, of Kenilworth, a reappointment for a term ending January 19, 2004. Berman is President of T.Y. Lin Bascor, a consulting engineering firm in Chicago.

George Fleischli, 56, of Springfield, a reappointment for a term ending January 20, 2003. Fleischli is employed by the National Jockey Club.

To the Children and Family Services Advisory Council:
James L. Gordon, 45, of Mt. Vernon, a reappointment for a term ending January 20, 2003. Gordon is Director/CEO of Southtown Youth Programs.

Rhonda Kaplan-Katz, 36, of Highland Park, an appointment for a term ending January 19, 2004. Kaplan-Katz is an attorney with Howard Gordan Kaplan, Ltd.

Arnold Henning, 50, of Evanston, an appointment for a term ending May 1, 2002. Henning is employed by Navistar International Corporation as Director/Finance Manager of the Bus Vehicle Center.

G. Phillip Later, 80, of Highland Park, an appointment for a term ending May 1, 2002. Later is retired from J.T. Ryerson & Son, Inc.

David B. Lawrence, 62, of Savoy, an appointment for a term ending May 1, 2002. Lawrence is a retired account executive from WCIA-TV and is the former Executive director of both the Champaign County United Way and the Boys & Girls Club.

Dorthy Miaso, 48, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending May 1, 2002. Miaso is Executive Director of Literacy Volunteers of America-Illinois, Inc.

Cynthia A. Yonan, 40, of Glendale Heights, an appointment for a term ending August 1, 2002. Yonan is a stay-at-home mother with five children.

Curtis Faber, 49, of Mendota, a reappointment for a term ending January 21, 2002. Faber is Vice President of Farmers State Bank of Sublette.

Robert Bettenhausen, 68, of Tinley Park, a reappointment for a term ending January 20, 2003. Bettenhausen is Chief Fire Marshall of the Tinley Park Volunteer Fire Department.

Stephen Eisenberg, 55, of Chicago, a reappointment for a term ending January 21, 2002. Eisenberg is a Senior Partner with Leahy, Eisenberg & Fraenkel, Ltd.

Dan Fabrizio, 42, of Chicago, a reappointment for a term ending January 21, 2002. Fabrizio is battalion chief with the Chicago Fire Department.

Kathleen J. Haage, 47, of Buffalo Grove, a reappointment for a term ending January 15, 2001. Haage is the Administrative Manager for the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District.

J. D. Knox, Jr.,. 52, of Chatham, an appointment for a term ending January 20, 2003. Knox is Chief of the Springfield Fire Department.

Richard Solomon, 66, of Naperville, a reappointment for a term ending January 20, 2003. Solomon is a fire protection engineering consultant.

To the Illinois International Port District Board:
Cary Capparelli, 46, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending June 1, 2004. Capparelli is President of Omni Communique', Inc.

To the Math & Science Academy Board of Trustees:
