$135,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for the Rockford Area

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $135,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in the Rockford area, including $100,000 to the Boone County Council on Aging to help construct a new facility which will house administrative offices, senior center activities and a computer lab.

The nonprofit council provides comprehensive programs and services to older adults living in Boone County.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Ronald A. Wait, R-Belvidere.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $25,000 to the RocVale Children's Home in Rockford to purchase a 4-wheel drive pickup truck with a snow blade.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Dave Winters, R-Shirland.

  • $10,000 to the Epilepsy Foundation of North Central Illinois in Rockford to partially offset early intervention program costs.
    This project was initiated by Winters.
