Governor Releases $20,000 Grant For Park Improvement In Ottawa

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today released a $20,000 grant to the City of Ottawa to fund improvements at Peck Park, a community recreational facility located on Ottawa’s south side.

"This grant will assist in the city’s plan to expand the park, providing improved access and enhanced recreational opportunities for families in Ottawa," Ryan said.

The grant will fund construction of an access road and new parking area for the existing 7.9 - acre addition adjacent to the park.

The community park includes ball fields, tennis courts, playground and picnic facilities.

The $20,000 grant for park improvements in Ottawa was appropriated by the General Assembly through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The funds were included in the FY 2000 budget at the request of state Representative Frank Mautino (D - Spring Valley).
