Ryan: $637,000 in Illinois FIRST Projects for North Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $637,000 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in North Central Illinois, including $200,000 to Carl Sandburg College to purchase equipment for its dental hygiene program. The equipment will include dental chairs, delivery mechanisms, dental operatory lights, operator and assistant stools, mobile cabinetry units and an autoclave. The district is contributing $1,755,559.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Rep. Donald L. Moffitt, R-Gilson.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $100,000 to the Roseville, Swan, Point Pleasant & Ellison Fire Protection District to purchase two new fire trucks. The district is contributing $144,754.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $60,000 to the Williamsfield Fire Protection District to purchase a brush truck, to construct a building for "first responders" in Oak Run and to install stand by generators and make an electrical upgrade at the Dahinda Fire Station. The district is contributing $40,000.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $60,000 to the Galesburg Cottage Hospital to purchase defibrillators for the Galesburg Area EMS system, which is comprised of twenty volunteer First Responder and Ambulance services. This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Oneida-Wataga Fire Protection District to purchase fire and safety equipment.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the East Galesburg Volunteer Fire Department to purchase fire and safety equipment.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Galesburg Fire Department to purchase a new command/rescue vehicle. The department is contributing $20,000.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $40,000 to the Central Warren Fire Protection District to purchase a new tanker truck. The district is contributing $85,000.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $30,000 to the Cambridge Fire Protection District to purchase fire and safety equipment.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $10,000 to the Knox County Council for the Developmentally Disabled to purchase manufacturing, computer, audio/video and client program equipment.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $10,000 to the Galesburg Railroad Museum to purchase display cases.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.

  • $7,000 to Copley Township to purchase three notebook computers, software and a printer.
    This project was initiated by Moffitt.
