Ryan: $2.3 Million in Illinois FIRST Projects for East Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan announced today that he is releasing $2,372,500 in Illinois FIRST funding for projects in East Central Illinois, including $350,000 to Shelby Memorial Hospital to purchase two Digital Radiology Systems.

The purchase will provide enhanced x-rays and improved diagnostics of patients.

This Illinois FIRST project was initiated by State Sen. Duane Noland, R-Decatur.

Other Illinois FIRST grants announced by Ryan:

  • $250,000 to Urbana Park District to renovate the Brookens Administration Building/Gymnasium. The district is contributing $107,167.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Rick Winkel, R-Champaign.

  • $200,000 to the Little Theater on the Square to purchase a building, equipment and for renovations to building.
    This project was initiated by Noland.

  • $155,000 to Hindsboro Community Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Timothy V. Johnson, R-Sidney.

  • $100,000 to Paris Crestwood Community Unit for a new parking lot and security lights.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Dale A. Righter, R-Mattoon.

  • $100,000 to Parkland College for construction of an agriculture technology facility. The college is contributing $1,228,000.
    This project was initiated by Winkel.

  • $170,000 to South Macon Fire Protection District to purchase a new fire truck.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Bill Mitchell, R-Forsyth.

  • $125,000 to Prairie Township for construction of maintenance garage.
    This project was initiated by Noland.

  • $75,000 to Champaign Township Road District #3 to purchase a dump truck.
    This project was initiated by Winkel.

  • $75,000 to the Township of Compromise to purchase an endloader.
    This project was initiated by Johnson.

  • $75,000 to Scott Township Road District #23 to purchase roadway equipment.
    This project was initiated by Winkel.

  • $65,000 to Condit Township Road District #7 to purchase a new truck.
    This project was initiated by Winkel.

  • $60,000 to Kerr Township to purchase a truck.
    This project was initiated by Johnson.

  • $60,000 to Macon County Mental Health Board to purchase a new van and computer equipment for the Youth With a Positive Direction Program.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Julie A. Curry, D-Mt. Zion.

  • $55,000 to Ayers Township to purchase a used payloader.
    This project was initiated by Johnson.

  • $50,000 to the Township of Philo to purchase a road grader.
    This project was initiated by Johnson.

  • $50,000 to Kansas Fire Protection District to purchase equipment.
    This project was initiated by State Sen. Judith A. Myers, R-Danville.

  • $50,000 to Geneva Park District to pay for asphalt needed to complete the "Mid-County Trail". The town is contributing $300,000.
    This project was initiated by State Rep. Dale A. Righter, R-Mattoon.

  • $50,000 to the Township of Stanton to purchase a truck.
    This project was initiated by Johnson.

  • $50,000 to Mid Illinois Senior Services to purchase and renovate a building for a Thrift Shop.
    This project was initiated by Noland.

  • $35,000 to the Village of Thomasboro to purchase a portable generator.
    This project was initiated by Johnson.

  • $32,000 to Warrensburg Community Fire Protection District to purchase breathing apparatus.
    This project was initiated by Mitchell.

  • $25,000 to the Village of Elliott for construction of a public playground with recreational facilities.
    This project was initiated by Winkel.

  • $20,000 to Newman Township Highway Department for improvements on the township building. The township is contributing $10,300.
    This project was initiated by Myers.

  • $20,000 to Ludlow Fire Protection District to purchase twelve self contained breathing apparatus air packs.
    This project was initiated by Johnson.

  • $20,000 to Hickory Point Fire Protection District to purchase a thermal imaging camera.
    This project was initiated by Mitchell.

  • $15,000 to the Village of Gays to purchase new playground equipment.
    This project was initiated by Curry.

  • $13,000 to Lakewood Township to replace a cement culvert.
    This project was initiated by Mitchell.

  • $12,500 to East Central Illinois Task Force to purchase a vehicle.
    This project was initiated by Myers.

  • $10,000 to Decatur Trades and Labor to purchase and construct a monument.
    This project was initiated by Curry.

  • $5,000 to the Charleston Police Department to purchase bikes and equipment for the department's bike patrol.
    This project was initiated by Myers.
