Governor Awards $60,000 to the Village of Virgil

Press Release - Monday, April 26, 2004

CHICAGO  - Governor Blagojevich today announced $60,000 in funding to the Village of Virgil for costs associated with the installation of a gas main to connect the Village of Virgil to the natural gas pipeline outside of Virgil on IC Trail Road.

"Energy Efficiency is important to my administration not only because of environmental concerns but also for the positive economic impact that using energy efficient practices have," said Governor Blagojevich. "Providing the accessibility of natural gas to the Village of Virgil will allow for the residents and businesses in the community to improve the environment while saving money on energy costs"

Funding will be used for a portion of the costs associated with the gas main materials, including the cost of installation. The gas feeder main to be installed will have branch lines constructed to each home and business within the village. This project will allow the residents to install newer energy-efficient furnaces and to remove propane and fuel-oil tanks which are costly and harmful to the environment.

"On behalf of the Virgil community we would like to thank the Governor for helping us to fund this important project," said Representative Patricia Reid Lindner (R-50). "The new natural gas hookups will not only improve our environment, but will allow the people of Virgil to benefit from the monetary rewards of using energy efficient furnaces."
