Blagojevich announces $25,000 for Colona Grade School

Press Release - Thursday, April 15, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today announced $25,000 in funding to Colona Grade School District 190 for a new science lab at Colona Grade School.  This is the final installment on a $50,000 grant to the school district.

"I want to ensure that every child in Illinois is getting the best education possible, and improving school facilities is part of that process," said Governor Blagojevich.  "We need to start preparing our students, even at an early age, for the science and technology jobs of the future and this science lab will help us achieve that goal."

The school district is converting a classroom at the school at 700 First Street into a modern science laboratory.

"This new lab will enhance the educational offerings to the students, improve their safety and better prepare them for classes and programs offered at the high school level," said project sponsor State Senator Denny Jacobs.  "On behalf of the students and staff at Colona Grade School I want to thank the Governor for providing this state funding."
