Press Release - Wednesday, March 31, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded $50,000 to the Village of Wauconda for a wheelchair lift at the Citizens Activity Center at 100 North Main Street.

"I'm pleased that we are able to release these funds in order to enhance the physical conditions of this facility which will improve the environment for the senior citizens and the disabled who participate in the center's programs," said Governor Blagojevich.

The Citizens Activity Center serves senior residents who are members of various local organizations that meet on a regular basis at the facility.

"Attending functions at the activity center is an important part of the weekly lives of our senior residents and this lift is now going to provide full access to the center for everyone," said State Representative Mark Beaubien, Jr., who sponsored the project.
