Governor announces $15,000 in funding for the Village of Joppa
Grant to be used for new fire station

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today is providing $15,000 in funding to the Village of Joppa for construction of a new fire station.  This is the final installment on a $30,000 grant for the project.
“I’m pleased to be able to provide the Village of Joppa with these funds to help meet the community’s public safety needs,” said Governor Blagojevich.  “Our firefighters put their lives on the line for the residents of their community every day and they deserve to have up-to-date equipment and facilities.”
The new fire station accommodates two fire trucks along with some office space, replacing a station that could only house one vehicle.  The Village of Joppa fire department is an all volunteer unit.
“On behalf of the volunteer firefighters of Joppa and the Village’s residents, I’d like to thank the Governor for providing the funding for this important public safety project,” said State Senator Gary Forby, who is the current legislative sponsor of the grant.
