Governor announces $25,000 in funding for the Rural Pope County Fire Protection District

Press Release - Wednesday, March 31, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded $25,000 in funding to the Rural Pope County Fire Protection District for various firefighting equipment.

"Our firefighters put their lives on the line every day so they deserve to have the most up-to-date equipment available to them when they are called upon to help the residents of their community," said Governor Blagojevich.

The type of equipment the fire district is purchasing includes pick axes, hoses, fans, saws and accident extrication equipment.

"These pieces of equipment are the basic tools of the trade for firefighters," said State Senator Gary Forby, who is the current legislative sponsor of the grant.  "On behalf of the firefighters and the people they serve, I'd like to thank the Governor for providing this funding."
