Governor awards $25,000 to Horizon House of Illinois Valley

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded $25,000 to Horizon House of Illinois Valley for capital projects at their facilities in LaSalle, Mendota, Peru and Spring Valley. 
 
"I'm pleased that we are able to release these funds in order to improve the physical conditions of these facilities which then enhances the opportunities available to the disabled members of the community," said Governor Blagojevich.
 
Horizon House of Illinois Valley provides adults with disabilities with an alternative to state institutional care through a network of residential facilities.  The organization also provides vocational and employment services.
 
Among the projects being funded are replacement of an elevator at the home at 402 Edwards Avenue in LaSalle; a driveway at 3101 7th Avenue in Peru; a parking lot extension at 4140 Progress Boulevard in Peru; and, sidewalk construction at homes at 1900 Diana Drive in Mendota, 1519 26th Street in Peru and 895 Northwestern Avenue in Spring Valley.
 
"I want to thank the Governor for providing these funds and supporting the work of this organization in improving the quality of life of the disabled residents of the Illinois Valley," said State Senator Patrick Welch who sponsored the project.
