Governor awards $50,000 to Johnston City

Press Release - Wednesday, March 31, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today awarded $50,000 to Johnston City in Williamson County for renovations to the new City Hall Building.

"We are pleased to be able to make these funds available for these renovations," said Governor Blagojevich. "This work will make the new city hall building a place that is safer, more comfortable and more accessible to all of its citizens."

Johnston City recently acquired the new property located at 100 West Broadway. The funds will be used for improvements including window replacement, upgraded electrical wiring and plumbing, the creation of storage areas and the remodeling of two bathrooms that will make them compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The new City Hall building will serve over 5,000 people.

"I want to thank Governor Blagojevich for approving these funds and helping Johnston City to have a City Hall that can serve the needs of all of its citizens," said Senator Gary Forby, the current sponsor of this grant.
