Governor announces $50,000 for the City of Darien

Press Release - Wednesday, March 31, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today provided $50,000 in funding to the City of Darien for a water line project. This is the final installment on a $100,000 grant for this project.

"The funding for these projects are important to the health and quality of life and that includes a safe and reliable source of drinking water," said Governor Blagojevich.

The City of Darien is installing a water line south of Interstate 55 in order to give the City a second connection between its existing water plant and distribution system.  The project increases the availability of drinkable water for the approximately 5,000 residents of the City.  In addition, service will be expanded to unincorporated areas outside of Darien which do not have access to the City's water service.

"This project makes it possible for the City of Darien to provide water service for future commercial and industrial development," said State Senator Christine Radogno, the current legislative sponsor of the project.

"I want to thank the Governor for continuing to provide the funding for this project which is so important to the quality of life of the residents of Darien and the surrounding area," said State Senator Kirk Dillard, the original grant sponsor.
