Governor announces $50,000 for the City of Carlinville

Press Release - Wednesday, March 31, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today provided $50,000 in funding to the City of Carlinville for work on the Carlinville Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is the final installment on a $100,000 grant for this project.

"The people of Illinois have the right to expect their state and local governments to provide the necessary resources for projects that are important to their health and quality of life, and that includes safe and dependable systems for the treatment of wastewater," said Governor Blagojevich.

The City of Carlinville is rehabilitating the steel, mechanical parts of a wastewater settling basin. The basin is actually a concrete tank that is 100 feet in diameter and one foot deep.

"I want to thank the Governor for approving the funds for this project which is important in maintaining the long term viability of this facility," said grant sponsor State Senator Vince Demuzio.  "I also want to acknowledge the support of Representative Gary Hannig in moving this project forward."
