STATE AGENCIES WILL PARTICIPATE IN SEMINARS TO ASSIST BUSINESSES IN MEETING ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. --- Governor Rod Blagojevich announced the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity will team up with the Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group for a series of seminars to assist Illinois business in complying with environmental requirements.
"These seminars will provide practical information on how Illinois companies can meet their environmental obligations and avoid future problems and costs," said Governor Blagojevich. "This kind of knowledge is good for both our state's natural and business environment."
In 2002, Illinois EPA participated in a similar series of seminars sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group, an affiliate of the Illinois Chamber, and more than 1,000 participants from across the state attended.
The new series of seminars will be held starting March 16 through May 19 and registration is through the Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group (Phone: 217-523-4942; E-mail: sidandkathy@envr.org). Participants may register for a series of three sessions or individual seminars. The Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group is charging a fee of $525 for the series or $195 for each individual seminar.
"We are pleased to be providing experts from our staff to assist Illinois companies in complying with state and federal environmental laws, such as permits, reporting and compliance and enforcement. Seminars such as these help all of us do our jobs better," said Illinois EPA Director Renee Cipriano.
DCEO's Small Business and Environmental Assistance Program is also participating in this spring's seminars and is reaching out to smaller companies.
The all-day sessions, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be held in Springfield and Bloomingdale and each month will feature a different broad topic.
Land Pollution issues will be the March focus, with the Springfield session on March 16 and the Bloomingdale session on March 23. Water Pollution issues will be featured on April 7 in Springfield and April 14 in Bloomingdale. The seminars will wrap up with Air Pollution issues in Springfield on May 12 and in Bloomingdale on May 19.
