Press Release - Tuesday, February 10, 2004

CHICAGO - Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today announced $12,500 in grants to Braceville Township in Grundy County for construction of an addition to the township maintenance facility at 7900 E. Braceville Road.  The space will be used for public meetings and will include handicapped accessible restroom facilities.  This is the final installment on a $25,000 grant for this project.

"A basic tenet of our society is the ability to gather as a community to meet and discuss issues that are important to all of," said Governor Blagojevich.  "This meeting space will be a key point of contact for all residents of Braceville Township."

The township previously had no designated public meeting space and there were no public facilities that were accessible to people with disabilities.  In addition to public meetings, boy and girl scout meetings will also be held at the facility.

"I'd like to thank the Governor for providing this important funding for Braceville Township," said State Representative Careen Gordon, who represents the area. This project was originally sponsored by former State Representative Mary Kay O'Brien.
