Press Release - Monday, February 09, 2004

CHICAGO- Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today announced a grant of $37,500 to the City of Champaign for infrastructure improvements at a business park. This is the final installment on a $75,000 grant for this project.

"We want to assist our communities in their efforts to encourage investment in their business parks and business districts," said Governor Blagojevich. "Providing a strong infrastructure for companies is one way in which we can create and retain jobs."

The City of Champaign is constructing a second electrical feed for property located at 2301 Fox Drive.  The improvements will solve electrical reliability problems for the company at the site, a data center employing 500 people.

"I'd like to thank the Governor for providing these funds which complete this important economic development project," said State Representative Naomi Jakobsson who is the current legislative sponsor for this project.
