Governor announces $4,700 grant to City of Plano

Press Release - Friday, February 06, 2004

CHICAGO- Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today announced a $4,789 grant to the City of Plano for a downtown business district revitalization.  The funds are part of a $100,000 grant for the project, which has a remaining balance of $40,500.

"The people of Illinois have the right to expect their state and local governments to provide the necessary resources for projects that are important to their public safety and quality of life, and improve the business climate in our communities," said Governor Blagojevich.

The City of Plano is improving conditions at a gravel parking lot which serves the downtown business district.  Adequate parking for employees and customers will improve the viability of businesses locating downtown.

"I want to thank the Governor for continuing to provide funding to help defray the cost of this project," said grant sponsor State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner.
