RYAN RELEASES 1998 INCOME TAX RETURNS

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan and First Lady Lura Lynn Ryan today made public their federal and state income tax returns for 1998.

"I pledged when I announced my candidacy for governor that I would release my tax returns for every year that I am governor and I will keep that pledge," Ryan said.

The Ryans' 1998 returns show they paid $25,471 in state and federal income taxes. The Ryans' adjusted gross income for 1998 was $102,640.

The Ryans paid $22,449 in federal taxes and are owed a refund of $4,366. The couple paid $3,022 in state taxes and is owed a refund of $32.
