RYAN NAMES THREE TO U OF I TRUSTEE BOARD

SPRINGFIELD -- Gov. George H. Ryan today made several appointments to boards and commissions under his control, including the nomination of three members to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.

Ryan re-appointed Dr. Jeffrey Gindorf, of Crystal Lake, to a six-year term on the board and named Dr. Kenneth D. Schmidt, of Riverwoods and Gerald W. Shea, of Burr Ridge as new members serving six-year terms.

Gindorf, 40, is a 1980 engineering graduate of the U of I at Urbana and is a physician in McHenry County. Schmidt, 56, is a 1963 graduate of the U of I at Urbana; a 1967 graduate of the U of I College of Medicine and is a senior partner with Des Plaines Radiologists, S.C. in Des Plaines. Shea, 67, is a 1957 finance graduate of the U of I at Urbana, a former majority leader in the Illinois House of Representatives and is president of Shea, Paige and Rogal, Inc., of LaGrange.

Schmidt replaces Trustee Judith Ann Calder on the board. Shea replaces Trustee Ada Lopez on the board. These appointments require Senate confirmation.

Ryan also made the following appointments:

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
As commissioner, Dan Fabrizio, 42, of Chicago; president of the Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2.
Fabrizio replaces Commissioner Harry Conlan.
This appointment requires Senate confirmation.

ILLINOIS COMMERCE COMMISSION
As commissioner, Edward C. Hurley, 45; of Chicago, secretary, general counsel and general manager of Custom Coffee Service Corporation, of Chicago.
Hurley replaces Commissioner Brent Bohlen.
Ryan also designated Commissioner Richard L. Mathias, of Winnetka, to continue as chairman of the ICC.
These appointments require Senate confirmation.

ILLINOIS COURT OF CLAIMS
Designated as chief justice, Andrew M. Raucci, 53; of Chicago; partner in the law firm of Kusper and Raucci Chartered, of Chicago. Raucci is currently a member of the court and this appointment does not require action by the Senate.
As judge, John R. "Randy" Patchett, 49, of Marion; partner in the law firm of Winters, Brewster, Crosby and Patchett, of Marion.
Patchett replaces Judge Roger A. Sommer and this appointment requires Senate confirmation.

EDUCATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD
Re-appointed as a member, Mary Ann Louderback, 46, of Cary.
This appointment requires Senate confirmation.

HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION
Re-appointed as a commissioner and designated as chair, Rose M. Jennings, 58, of Chicago; a business consultant. The former interim chair, Sakhawat Hussain of Frankfort, remains on the Commission.
Re-appointed as a commissioner, Mary Jeanne "Dolly" Hallstrom, 74, of Evanston; former member of the Illinois House.
As commissioner, Dominic DiFrisco, 65, of Chicago; director of public affairs at Burson-Marsteller, Chicago. He replaces Commissioner Clyde Brooks.
As commissioner, Girvena M. LeBlanc, 46, of Olympia Fields; purchasing coordinator at Oak Forest Hospital. She replaces Commissioner Mathilda Jakubowski.
As commissioner, Daniel C. Sprehe, 35, of Chicago; government affairs consultant. He replaces Commissioner Jane H. Rader.
As commissioner, Eva Betka, 58, of Palatine; assistant to Lt. Gov. Corinne G. Wood. She replaces Commissioner Vivian Stewart Tyler.
Re-appointed as commissioner, Isiah Thomas, 55, of Calumet Park; president / business agent of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 241, Chicago.

MEDICAL DISCIPLINARY BOARD
Re-appointed as a member, Georgia Lubben, M.D.; of Chicago.
Re-appointed as a member, Henri S. Havdala, M.D., 67, of Lincolnwood.
Re-appointed as a member, Michael G. Murphy, M.D., 60, of Smithton.
Re-appointed as a member, Lacy H. Cook, Jr., D.C., 55, of Oswego.
These appointments require Senate confirmation.

MEDICAL LICENSING BOARD
Re-appointed as a member, Richard A. Schmidt, M.D., 63, of Marseilles.
Re-appointed as a member, Robert M. Vanecko, M.D., 63, of Chicago.
As a member, Ronald L. Johnson, M.D., 46, of Pittsfield; replacing Member Dean Bordeaux.
As a member, Jane Jackman, M.D., of Springfield; replacing Member Herman Reyes.
As a member, James J. Babiar, D.C., 54, of Elgin; replacing Member Roger Pope.
These appointments require Senate confirmation.

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Re-appointed as a trustee, A.D. Van Meter, Jr., 76, of Springfield; chairman emeritus of National City of Springfield.
