Governor Ryan Makes Two Interim Appointments

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today named Linda Wheeler as Acting Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation and Nancy White as the interim director of the Department of Central Management Services.

Wheeler of Springfield, will replace Kirk Brown who is retiring at the end of the year. Her appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2003. White of Rochester, will replace Steve Schnorf, who is retiring effective Monday. Both appointees will serve until Governor-elect Rod Blagojevich names a new Secretary and Director.

Wheeler is a 28-year employee of IDOT and is currently the Director of the Office of Planning and Programming. White is a 27-year state employee and has been with CMS for 12 years. She has served as the Department's Chief of Staff for the past five years.
