RYAN ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR US150/IL 1 IMPROVEMENTS

SPRINGFIELD, IL -- Governor George H. Ryan today released $1.5 million in Road Funds for the future improvement of US150/IL 1 (State Street) through Ridge Farm.

"This money will be used to improve State Street through Ridge Farm, eliminate congestion, and improve the drainage system along the highway through town," Ryan said. "These improvements will help the community to grow and prosper into the next century."

The funds will be used for engineering and the start of construction, which includes widening the highway from two lanes to three with a center bi-directional turn lane, resurfacing, curb and gutter, and improvements to the drainage system. Engineering for the project is scheduled to begin this spring and the project is estimated to take 18 months to complete.

The $1.5 million was appropriated by the General Assembly through the Illinois Department of Transportation. The funds were included in the FY1999 budget at the request of Sen. Judy Myers (R-Danville).
