RAY MOTA PRESIDES AS CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD CHAIRMAN; KIM ROBINSON NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

SPRINGFIELD -- The Capital Development Board (CDB), under the leadership of new Board Chairman Ray Mota, today approved Kim Robinson as the agency's Executive Director.

"Ray Mota is a respected contractor and member of the Capital Development Board," Ryan said. "I look forward to working with him and the entire Board as we execute the state's capital program."

Mota has served on the Board since December 1995 and was named Board Chairman by Gov. George H. Ryan on February 11, 1999. He is the first Hispanic to serve as chairman. He is president of Mota Construction Company, Inc., one of the largest Hispanic-owned construction companies in the Chicago metropolitan area. The company has offices in Chicago and Waukegan. In addition to his service on the Capital Development Board, Mota serves as a director for Northern States Financial Corp. and the Bank of Waukegan. He is involved with a number of other community and service organizations including the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association, the College of Lake County Foundation and is a mentor for the Big Shoulders Program

Kim Robinson has held a number of management positions within the Secretary of State's Office. As director of policy and programs, she was a senior advisor to Ryan. Robinson formulated public policy and developed legislative initiatives in a number of areas including organ donation awareness, traffic safety, literacy and driver and vehicle services. She also served as chief deputy director of the Driver's Services Department and as deputy press secretary.

"Kim is a proven administrator and her talents will serve her well in her new position," Ryan said. "Together, Ray and Kim will provide a strong leadership team for the Capital Development Board as it continues to provide quality construction management services."

The Capital Development Board is the State's construction management agency. It administers and oversees design and construction contracts for state-funded, non-road construction and renovation projects. The agency is overseen by a seven-member bi-partisan board which approves contracts and provides policy direction.
