SPRINGFIELD -- Gov. George H. Ryan today appointed attorney Violet Clark to the Illinois Gaming Board.

Vi Clark is a partner in the law firm of Laner, Muchin, Dombrow, Becker, Levin and Tominberg, Ltd., representing management in employment law and labor relations matters. She currently serves as a hearing officer on the Cook County Commission on Human Rights and the Chicago Commission on Human Relations and has been recently appointed to the State Treasurer's Commission on Women's Issues.

"Ms. Clark has extensive legal qualifications and has invested herself in the community. She will be a great asset to the Gaming Board," said Governor Ryan.

Clark began her career at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago and also served as a Senior Trial Attorney with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She is a graduate of Cornell Law School. Ms. Clark is also a member of several bar associations and has been a board member of several not for profit organizations.

With this appointment, Clark, 45, of Chicago, will complete the remainder of the term originally held by Robert Mariano. The term expires July 1, 2004.

"The members of the Gaming Board assume a great responsibility, and I believe that Ms. Clark will take on this challenge with enthusiasm and dedication," added Governor Ryan.

"This is an excellent opportunity," said Clark. "I look forward to using my skills and making a contribution to the state of Illinois." Clark's appointment requires Senate confirmation.
