Press Release - Tuesday, August 14, 2001

DES PLAINES, IL -- Governor George H. Ryan will hold four hearings on airport issues facing northeastern Illinois beginning on Thursday, August 16, 2001.

Now, Mayor Daley has proposed a comprehensive plan for O'Hare Airport, which I am reviewing," Gov. Ryan said. "After I hear from the people of the metropolitan region, we will prepare an alternative proposal to the Mayor which will draw upon what we hear at these meetings."

The first meeting will take place on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001 at the Council Chambers of the Des Plaines City Hall at 7:00 p.m.

Each meeting will be from 7:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. After a briefing on the City's proposal for O'Hare, the meeting will open up to public comment. Each citizen requesting an opportunity to speak will be limited to 5 minutes. Written testimony will also be accepted.
