Governor Announces $300,000 Grant For City Of Effingham

Press Release - Monday, November 01, 1999

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced that the City of Effingham received a $300,000 grant to make infrastructure improvements needed for the expansion of a local company that creates software for dental practices, creating 30 new jobs.

"High-tech companies are providing Illinois workers with new economic opportunities," Ryan said. "My administration is committed to helping these companies grow and create jobs. Providing infrastructure assistance is one way we can accomplish that."

Under the grant, awarded through the Department of Commerce and Community Affair's (DCCA) Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP), the City of Effingham will build a local roadway that will provide access to a new EagleSoft facility. EagleSoft's new 7,000 square-foot office complex will be located next to its current 11,715 square foot facility.

"By partnering with local officials in Effingham, we were able to move forward on a specific road project that was needed to create good paying jobs for the community," DCCA Director Pam McDonough said.

EagleSoft, a division of Patterson Dental Company, is a leading designer and provider of dental practice management software systems.

"We appreciate the cooperation of the State of Illinois and Governor Ryan in making these infrastructure funds available for the expansion of Eagle Soft. The jobs provided by Eagle Soft are the type of jobs we are working to attract to Effingham to provide more opportunity for our workforce," Effingham Mayor Robert Utz said.

The new facility is expected to be completed by early next year. At least 30 new employees will be hired before January 31, 2001.
