Ryan Names Culloton Deputy Press Secretary

SPRINGFIELD - Governor George H. Ryan today announced the appointment of Dennis Culloton as Deputy Press Secretary.

"Dennis Culloton has served the people of Chicago with distinction," Ryan said. "He brings a wealth of experience to my staff, and he will be a tremendous asset to our efforts on behalf of the people of Illinois."

Culloton, a native of Chicago, is currently communications director for the Chicago Department of Aviation. A 1987 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Journalism and a 1991 graduate of the DePaul University College of Law, Culloton was a writer/reporter for WMAQ-AM radio in Chicago from 1988 to 1992. He was a public affairs specialist for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois from 1992 to 1997.

Culloton, who will be based in the governor's Chicago office, will begin on July 19.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Governor Ryan and the people of Illinois," Culloton said. "I have been extremely fortunate in my career having served Mayor Daley and Commissioner Mary Rose Loney."

Culloton, his wife Katie and two children live in Chicago.
