Illinois First To Support Economic Development In Frankfort
SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced that $250,100 in Illinois FIRST funds have been earmarked to support economic development efforts in Frankfort.
The funds will be used to construct an extension of Gulfstream Drive in Frankfort to support the expansion of three companies. Warfield Electric Company, Spencer Vending Company, and the File Center will invest more than $4 million in new 36,600 square foot facilities creating 35 new jobs for the area.
"The addition of 35 new jobs is an important addition to the Frankfort area's economic base," Ryan said. "Through Illinois FIRST, the state is able to partner with local communities and attract new businesses by making sure that our transportation system can accommodate economic growth."
The Illinois FIRST funds come from the Economic Development Program administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The program specifically targets transportation improvements that help communities retain or attract businesses and associated jobs.
