Ryan Makes Appointments To Boards And Commissions

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor George H. Ryan today announced the designation of Anne R. Taylor as the Chairperson of the Prisoner Review Board.

"Anne Taylor has served Illinois with distinction for many years," Ryan said. "She is committed to the protection of Illinois citizens and providing fair and just judgement for each individual who comes before her."

Taylor, of Champaign, is currently a member of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board. The designation does not require Senate confirmation. Taylor replaces James K. Williams and will earn $70,392 per year.

Ryan also made the following appointments:

To Prisoner Review Board:

* Robert W. Churchill, 52, of Lake Villa, an appointment for a term ending January 20, 2003. Churchill is a partner at Churchill, Baumgartner & Quinn, Ltd. Churchill will be paid $65,204 a year. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.

To Governors State University Board of Trustees:

* Kristi DeLaurentiis, 40, of Frankfort, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. DeLaurentiis is a campaign consultant.

* William D. McGee, 72, of Hazel Crest, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. McGee is the retired Superintendent of School District 170 in Chicago Heights.

Appointees to Governors State University Board of Trustees will be paid expenses only. The appointments require Senate confirmation.

To the Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees:

* Myron E. Siegel, 48, of Bannockburn, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Siegel is the President of Myron E. Siegel & Associates.

* Gary J. Skoien, 45, of Inverness, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Skoien is the Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Group Properties, Inc. and the Prime Group Inc.

* Barbara Giorgi-Vella, 54, of Rockford, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Giorgi-Vella is an Attorney at Vella, Sparkman, Wheeler & Lund.

* Jeremiah Joyce, 56, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Joyce is retired.

Appointees to Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees will be paid expenses only. The appointments require Senate confirmation.

To the Illinois State University Board of Trustees:

* Jaime Flores, 41, of Berwyn, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Flores is the Midwest Regional Manager for InRoads, Inc.

* Diane Glenn, 59, of Chicago, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Glenn is the President and CEO of the Community Bank of Lawndale.

* Nancy H. Froelich, 68, of Hudson, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Froelich is the Owner of Froelich Memorial Homes.

* William D. Sulaski, 59, of Normal, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Sulaski is a Partner in Sulaski and Webb, CPA's.

To Chicago State University:

* Betsy Perkins Hill, 46, of Wilmette, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Hill is the Managing Director for Product and Services Marketing at Illinova Energy Partners. Hill will be paid expenses only. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.

To Eastern Illinois University:

* Roger Dettro, 67, of Mattoon, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Dettro is a dentist. Dettro will be paid expenses only. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.

To Western Illinois University Board of Trustees:

* George Joseph Guzzardo, 44, of Macomb, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Guzzardo is President of Guzzardo Enterprises, Inc.

* Lorraine Epperson, 73, of Macomb, a reappointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Epperson is the Owner and President of Century 21 Purdum-Epperson, Inc.

* Zack Stamp, 45, of New Berlin, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Stamp is the President of Zack Stamp, Ltd.

To Northeastern Illinois University Board of Trustees:

* Niranjan Shah, 54, Oakbrook, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Shah is the Chairman and CEO of Globetrotters Engineering Corporation.

* Robert Hartman, 42, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending January 17, 2005. Hartman is the Chairman of the NuCare Services Corporation.

To the Illinois Board of Higher Education:

* James L. Kaplan, 54, of Lincolnshire, an appointment for a term ending January 31, 2001. Kaplan is an Attorney at Kaplan & Sorosky, Ltd. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.

* Thomas R. Lamont, 52, of Springfield, an appointment for a term ending July 1, 2000. Lamont is a Partner at Altheimer & Gray. The appointment does not require Senate confirmation.

To the Illinois Development Finance Authority:

* Michael Zavis, 62, of Northbrook, elected as the Chairperson for the Illinois Development Finance Authority. Zavis' term ends when a successor is elected. Zavis is a Co-Managing Partner at Katten, Muchin & Zavis.

* Howard W. Feldman, 53, of Springfield, an appointment for a term ending January 15, 2001. Feldman is a Partner at Feldman, Wesser, Draper & Benson.

* John Koliopoulos, 49, of Palos Park, an appointment ending January 20, 2003. Koliopoulos is the Owner and President of Food Service/Patio Restaurants.

* George Wm. Beck, 50, of Mt. Vernon, an appointment ending January 20, 2003. Beck is the President and CEO of the Beck Bus Transport Corporation.

* Ruth Vrdolyak, 64, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending January 15, 2001. Vrdolyak is retired.

To the Lottery Control Board:

* James T. Hadley, 68, of Chicago, an appointment for a term ending July 1, 2002. Hadley is the Vice President of the Highland Community Bank. Hadley will be paid expenses plus per diem. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.

To the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission:

* John Miller, 29, of Peoria, a reappointment ending November 14, 2001. Miller is a Deaf Services Coordinator at the Central Illinois Center for Independent Living.

* Thomas D. Benziger, 52, of Woodridge, a reappointment ending November 14, 2001. Benziger is a Supervisor at Access Living.

* Laura Ann Blackburn, 36, of Sycamore, an appointment ending November 14, 2001. Blackburn is an Assistant Professor at Northern Illinois University.

* Donald R. Norton, Sr., 62, of Carbondale, an appointment ending February 15, 2002. Norton will be appointed as the Commissioner. Norton is a representative of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce.

* Edward Mulvaney, 52, of Rock Falls, an appointment ending February 15, 2002. Mulvaney is the Mayor of Rock Falls.

* Charles M. Knox, 62, of Villa Grove, an appointment ending February 15, 2002. Knox is the Senior Buyer at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign.

To the Governor's Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Committee:

* Richard Randall, 54, of Yorkville, a reappointment ending November 1, 2000. Randall is the Sheriff of Kendall County.

* Leon Kutzke, 51, of Lombard, a reappointment ending November 1, 2000. Kutzke is the Chief of Police for the Lombard Police Department.

* William Doster, 53, of Kankakee, a reappointment ending November 1, 1999. Doster is the Chief of Police for the Kankakee Police Department.

* Edward W. Hoes, 51, of Westchester, an appointment ending November 1, 1999. Hoes is a Police Officer for the Village of Riverside.
